In short: if you land in Cluj, Budapest or Debrecen and want to get to Satu Mare or Baia Mare, you have two options with Rentio: a private transfer with a driver, on request, from the airport to your address, or a transfer followed by a rental car for the days you spend at home. Not everyone flies directly to Satu Mare. When you come home for the holidays or on leave, you choose the flight that suits you in terms of date, time and price, even if you land in Cluj, Budapest or Debrecen. Then comes the question: how do you get home from the airport, with luggage, maybe with children, maybe late in the evening? Below you will find the options, what to choose depending on your situation and how to request a quote.
What are your options if you land in Cluj, Budapest or Debrecen?
You have two main options: a private transfer with a driver, on request, straight to your destination, or a transfer home plus a rental car that you use during your stay.
- Private transfer with a driver. If your route is confirmed in the quote, a Rentio driver waits for you at the agreed airport and takes you to your address in Satu Mare, Baia Mare or the surrounding area. You do not drive, you do not look for the way and you do not pay for airport parking.
- Transfer + rental car. You get home with the transfer, then rent a car from the Rentio fleet for the days when you have trips to make: to relatives, shopping, around Maramureș or the Oaș area.

When is a transfer with a driver the better choice?
A transfer with a driver suits you when you do not want to drive after the flight, when you land in another country or when you only need a car for the journey from the airport.
A few typical situations:
- you land in the evening or at night, after a long day, and do not want to drive;
- you land in Budapest or Debrecen, in Hungary, and would rather not cross the border at the wheel yourself;
- you are travelling with family and have a lot of luggage;
- at your destination you already have a way to get around (the family car, relatives who drive you) and only need the trip to and from the airport.

When is a rental car the better choice?
A rental car suits you when you are staying several days and have many trips to make. From 7 days you get a reduced rate, from 28 €/day for rentals of at least 7 days. Rates include VAT.

You can choose between the STANDARD deposit, of 200–400 € depending on the car, and SMART Insurance (Asigurare SMART). SMART Insurance is a daily fee that reduces the deposit to 0 €. It is not a third-party liability or comprehensive insurance policy, and certain costs remain the customer’s responsibility (see the Terms and Conditions, chapter 5).

How do the two options compare?
The main difference: with a transfer a driver takes you, with a rental car you drive yourself and pay per day.

How do you request a transfer quote?
Call +40 746 678 872 or write to rentio.office@gmail.com and tell us where from, when and how many people. You receive a quote for your route.
To get an accurate quote straight away, send:
- the airport: Cluj, Budapest or Debrecen;
- the landing date and time, plus the flight number;
- the destination address (Satu Mare, Baia Mare or another town in the area);
- the number of people and how many large bags you have;
- whether you also need a transfer on the way back, with the date and time of your departure flight;
- whether you also want to rent a car during your stay, with the approximate period.
Make your request early, especially for the Christmas and New Year period, when many people from the diaspora come home.
Can you use the rental car to drive to Budapest or Debrecen airport?
A car rented from Rentio can only leave the country with Rentio’s written consent and only within the EU/EEA. Hungary is in the EU, but the 50 € document fee and a deposit for travelling abroad apply.
Returning the car to a different place from where you picked it up is only possible with Rentio’s consent and for an extra fee, between 30 and 350 €.
